4/10/2017 0 Comments Adventure Guide InterviewThis week we interviewed one of our adventure guides - Ceridwen Walsh - about how she was first introduced to the hiking world. Ceridwen began hiking at a very young age, and although she loves it now, she has not always felt that way.
How long have you been hiking? Have you always loved it the way you do now? I started hiking with my father when I was 6 years old! At first, I hated going on hiking/camping trips. When I was young I really enjoyed being around society, so when my dad took us on long camping trips, I honestly dreaded it. What hikes did you go on as a child? I grew up in Vancouver, WA, so we went on a lot of hikes near the Columbia River Gorge. I remember my dad took us on a backpacking trip through the Ho Rain Forest. Our most memorable trip was a day hike to the top of Silver Star Mountain. What makes you passionate about hiking today? I love feeling like I am one with nature. In today's society it is so easy to get caught up in electronics and the hustle bustle of the city, so getting outdoors and experiencing nature is a great balance.
